As we gather to worship virtually, here are some songs to sing along with to prepare your heart for our worship. May we bless God with our worship today and everyday!
L: Faithful God,
C: Today we stand in your presence, complete with our burdens and shortcomings, our self-image bruised and hurting, our fears, shame, doubts and anxieties, knowing we are completely broken, and that only you can make us new. Thank you for loving, restoring and equipping us to share your grace with the world. Amen.
Prayer of the Day
L: Lord of love,
C: you have taught us that love is your greatest commandment. Teach us to love as unconditionally as you love us. Amen.
Let’s read our Gospel text together.
Mark 12:28-34 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
28 One of the scribes came near and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, he asked him, “Which commandment is the first of all?” 29 Jesus answered, “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; 30 you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” 32 Then the scribe said to him, “You are right, Teacher; you have truly said that ‘he is one, and besides him there is no other’; 33 and ‘to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength,’ and ‘to love one’s neighbor as oneself,’—this is much more important than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” 34 When Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” After that no one dared to ask him any question.

Offering: Your continued financial support for Calvary is vital during these challenging times as we seek to be a presence and blessing in Christ for the sake of the world.
Let’s listen to our Psalm for the week, Psalm 89 (two options).
Offertory Prayer: Lord, we thank you for the abounding gifts you have given us. Motivate us to use our gifts to be your church in the world. We ask all this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Apostles’ Creed: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
Prayers of the People: L: Lord in your mercy, C: Hear Our Prayer
Lord’s Prayer: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
