In this new reality, we are thankful that we can continue to worship as a community through online documents and resources. Below is an awesome Lent worship service for us (you and your family/small group).Every Wednesday and Sunday we will be providing virtual worship services. Our prayer is that these resources will be a huge blessing for you during these times and that you will stay (virtually) connected to Calvary. Please let us know your prayer requests, life happenings, feedback on worship and programs, and stories of where you see God working in this time.

Scripture reading:
Matthew 6:5-14
5 “And whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, so that they may be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward. 6 But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
7 “When you are praying, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
9 “Pray then in this way:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And do not bring us to the time of trial,
but rescue us from the evil one.
14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you;

Lent Week 5: March 25
Basic 6: Prayer ~ Matthew 6:5-14
- Share a high and a low from this previous week.
- What is a prayer that God has answered in your life?
- What is a prayer that has gone unanswered?
- Do you find praying easy or difficult? Why?
- Have you ever heard someone use the term, “prayer life”? What do you think that means?
- What is something that you have been praying for recently?
- What phrase sticks out most to you in the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6)?
- Read through the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6 together. Line by line, what is being asked or said?
- Do you believe that God “wants to answer our prayers”? Why or why not?
- Share a prayer request with each other; then seek to pray for your mentor/ee every day this week.
Let’s sing the focus song together.
Prayers of the People: Join us in singing the refrain
“Lord listen to Your children praying; Lord, send Your Spirit in this place. Lord, listen to Your children praying; Send us love, send us pow’r, send us grace.
Lord’s Prayer: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Service Challenge: Grab a garbage bag and some gloves. Go for a walk as a family and pick up trash alongside the road.
Benediction: Make the sign of the cross on the forehead of a family member and say, “May the Lord bless you and keep you”.
